"Carefully restored...with thoughtful touches and some of the best interiors on this list."

Meet Landgate House, a 700-year-old grade II listed, five-bed gaff, beside the old town wall, and it has been sympathetically restored with a keen design eye. So while the flagstone floors remain, the decor is vintage loveliness – Windsor and mid-century dining chairs, art and a reclaimed glass bar from the Dorchester. Even better for families it has a garden which is rare in central Rye.

"It has all the character — wonky floors included — that you could ask for in such a stay. There are five generous bedrooms, including a bunk bed room for kids, the perfect country kitchen, and lots of interiors and artsy touches that urbanites will appreciate."
-
"It's a really great house – the owners have nailed the details and the location for getting around Rye is perfect!"
– Suzy, Cambridgeshire
